I was told these cannot strip...

Thread Starter
I already read some other threads on suggestions and what do do, but I just want to clear something up.

Yes, the fans do not have any threading to begin with, you make the threading with the screws. So I have tried and got 2 sides all the way through on an Antec Tricool, but haven't been able to get it done on the Megaflow 200 (which is where the screws came from).

I went down the road to a little computer shop and asked the guy if he had any screws, bringing along the ones I am using. He said yeah and I told him why/for what. I was going to pay for them...
He looks at me like am an idiot and says he won't give me any screws because these are IMPOSSIBLE to strip. That the screws are not stripping, only the plastic (which doesn't really make as much sense to me). He says the problem is not my screws but it is ME. So I showed him the stripped screws and he still refused...

So am I an idiot or was this guy just an ass?

If these are impossible to strip then why does it look like this:
(I blame frustration for the result of this one)

I honestly don't know how to tell the sizes, there are no markings. I have used different sizes and it worked best when I just used a flathead lol

Take a non-stripped screw and place the phillips head into the bit, it fits perfectly (i.e. no wobbling back and forth) then it's the right size.

Exactly. At this point it sounds like you're using the wrong screwdrivers.

Hahaha no this one is not the one I used the flathead with...that one worked and went all the way in.

The phillips head seems to fit (maybe a tad too big), just gets so tight in the plastic.

don't feel too bad though, I've stripped a few fan screws even with the right bit and lot's of frustration. They are cheap and almost always come with new fans.

If it's hard to screw into the plastic try putting mineral oil in the hole to act a "cutting fluid" of sorts.
