japanese head screwdrivers are supposedly less likely to strip out.

phillips headed screws are designed to strip out. They were developed for automated machine assemble to strip out before damaging the furniture or whatever they were being put into.

Yes it is probably 99% your fault, however i have some case fans that the plastic is just ridiculous on.

Ok, really dude was an ass.

When a screw like that is considered "stripped" it refers to the threading on the screw being damaged. The screw won't thread in the hole correctly and be crooked. Or will become almost stuck (hard to turn) while screwing or unscrewing. Or that screw that turns freely forever, yet never comes out of the hole.

The screw in your pic was "rounded" or "rounded off" meaning you used the wrong size, wrong tool, to much force, etc. when screwing. Damaging the head of the screw. It's ok it happens. I think this might have been what dude meant to explain to you and failed.
