Umm the heats still there, you're just moving it out if your case faster with bigger and more powerful fans. Common misconception.

I have the same issue with heat. One plan was to get a WC loop on my GPUs (nit practical at all for me, but perhaps someone else) and stick some Yate Loons or Nidec Betas on a large RAD and toss it out the window. Temps on the GpU won't be great, but they won't be near the TJ max.

Try 95 with no AC.

Agreed. I can choose between clocking my parts down, or not folding. And I choose not folding because I need my parts running as fast as possible when I use them.
More fans wont make any difference. They will just lower temps a tiny bit and move still hot air around my room. Under 100% load my CPU is at ~55C and my GPU is at 72C. More fans will still leave me blowing hot air into my room.

Its only going to get worse.

Starting this Friday I will not be folding until some time around October or November. It already gets ungodly hot in the house without my computer helping it along so until I am firmly in the clutches of Fall I will not be able to contribute to F@H much.

I would like to keep my postbit as well.
I know it will reappear when I start up again but I like seeing it and I dont want to loose it over something as trivial as sweating to death.
How much do I need to fold Per week/month to ensure it does not disappear?
Southern California here, I feel you on this.

IF you want a POSSIBLE solution... here is what I am planning to do for this summer. My room is upstairs and the top level of the house gets pretty warm (without folding). Even just 1 PC folding noticeably raises the temperature in my room and even in the hallway. However, our first floor stays surprisingly cool (this is all with no A/C). What I'm thinking of doing is putting a couple rigs in the garage with good fans so they can be as loud as they need to be (to keep good temps) and dumping heat into the ventilated garage that will not affect anywhere else in the house. You can just set up a few rigs on a switch and hook it to a WAP or use the ethernet over powerline deal. I've been using that and it has so far worked quite well. Then just install tightvnc (or any vnc) on the rigs and you can remotely operate all of them from your comfy room/office/wherever

Can't guarantee it will work in my house, but I'm pretty sure it will. I'd hate to stop folding on all my rigs because of the heat--but unless I'm gone for a few days or I do this, the heat gets unbearable. We also won't run our AC all the time either because it jacks our power bill up about 400% to the $450/mo range.

Well, im the only person in the apartment who folds, and it does get many much hot in my room (where my computer lives).
Moving it out to the living room or somewhere else isnt really an option though. The roomies wouldnt appreciate it at all. Not to mention I lack another computer to use for the LAN connection.
I might start folding on my little Celeron M 630Mhz craptop just so I dont feel TOO bad.

Hey it can get hot enough outside in Tucson that hey have to shut down the airport. *Some Aircraft engines have an outside operating temperature of 120F. No evap cooling Phil? Jeesh man. I think they still sell the 20" Box fan/evap cooling setup at like Lowe's or something. Look into that to help keep those temps down.

Haha. I know all about airports being shut down due to the tarmac melting at 115F. Ive been stuck in the air because of it a few times.
And I cant do Evap in my room because there are ornamental bars over the window. :/

Dam man. It gets hot in England but not that hot. I think I saw temps of about 30'C last summer. Not looking forward to it though as my room is tiny and heats up so fast.

Yeah. But you also get rain now and then.
Arizona has 2 seasons. hot and less hot.
110F in the summer, 65 in the winter. At least I dont ever have to change the AC temp. I leave it at 72F year round.

Also, Stupid Question. Do you like Top Gear?
