Is my pc running hot? - Page 2

You'd need to have some super powerful fans (100-250CFM Deltas and San-Aces)and in large numbers making your case a wind turbine with a 1200W+ PSU to really see a big change in your power bill, if it's a couple of fans then it's not gonna hurt.

Most ram these days even budget ones at the DDR3-1600mhz are pretty equal in timings of 9-9-9-24. I've had Mushkin myself before I went to gskill (Mushkin is on a i5-760 shuttle box now) and it ran fine. Also Mushkin has great technical support in their forums. Whatever RAM you choose, as long as it has same timings and speed as yours with smaller heatsinks it'll do the job. But I was able to fit my SA and TY-140 on top of my Ripjaws no prob, just had to move the fan clips up closer to the side panel to give about 1mm or so in space for my ram to breathe.

[edit] Addendum to my 2nd mount of the CF3 application to the 4870. I didn't clean it off, since it was the same exact paste and less than a day has passed since that mount, I just added a bit more paste to equate to over a pea sized blob (overkill I know), but I felt I was too conservative on the 1st CF3 mount.

Check your thermal compund on the chip, make sure it covers the entire integrated heat spreader and also make sure it has ful coverage on your sink as well. Make sure NOT to use too much, a small dot is all you need, coz too much can actually act as an insulater, and cause it to run hotter than it is now.

I can see if your screens that you're in performance mode. At least from my system experience, aren't you running faster than 3.4ghz? maybe more like 4.1-4.4ghz?.... the speeds are just slightly out of the screenshot

Back to the actual concern, i do agree you're running a little warmer than you should with a silver arrow.
