Lol I know a guy that pulled a trailer loaded with washers, dryers and fridges for like 12 years till the car finally died

Too slow to be a PC? With remote desktop in the future, it will be an interface to your PC. Today, tablets are fast enough for media consumption.
My phone had remote desktop...April of last year.

I think the tablet is after a completely different market.
The casual user.
It is not meant for an enthusiast (unless your an apple enthusiast where you'll buy anything with fruit on it).
It is meant for somebody who needs email access and light document services. Along with those who are thrilled by simple games (read angry birds).

I think its like the Honda civic... there are a lot of people out there who just need a car that works... there are better options out there but it simply works. No it will not tow your boat or get you over a mountain pass but most people don't need that everyday.

Tablets also have the smell of new and cute, that can go along way for a lot of people... something to talk about and show off at the chic coffee shop.

Yes, but there are a lot of people that don't think before buying something and then ask me to make the flash work on their phone, or to make the phone to work as a data modem for the computer.

The need to do things, they just don't know what they need. They don't think before.

Tablets would be great for businesses as well.

Isn't kinda pathetic that it takes an entire "android ecosystem" to overcome a single brand?

But this article is common sense. By shear volume Android will obviously become the most widespread tablet OS, just like the smartphone market. And just like the smartphone market, Google and Apple will make out like bandits while everyone else scrapes by. I've said it before, Android tablet makers should focus more on competing with themselves rather than competing with Apple.

I ordered an ipad 2 after waiting for both tablets to be released. I went with the ipad 2 (even though i really want a xoom) because of apps. I know the apps are coming eventually, but right now ipad has better apps. Plus Motorola really ticked me off when I bought my moto cliq.

It puts me in the weird corner of not wanting anything from Motorola or apple. Think back to the /0 errors on Motorola chips on old apple machines...
How to crash your friends apple machine that was 'uncrashable'

It is hard because Apple spend more money on advertising than all other manufacturers, remember that clip "I am mac and I am a PC with advertising ?".

If you can't remember check it out here:
I think that roles have changed right now and Apple learned something from Microsoft.

I love, love my Motorola Xoom. I seriously do. I've not used my laptop, or Google CR-48 netbook ONCE since I got the Xoom. I use it every day. Sitting on the couch, showing friends n family clips from the japan disaster, or video's of Jimmer Fredette shooting 30ft 3 pointers. Playing gaming, and more. It seriously is amazing.

I like the Android 3.0 and I feel it is much more designed for a tablet and is a WAY better user experience over iOS. iOS is to plain, only has the phone functions and can move tiles around and this is all. Android, and more so 3.0 for tablets is a very, very well done mix of Windows, and a Mobile OS. making the perfect tablet OS. it really is.

I think Google has a real winner with Android 3.0 (oh and I watched UFC on TV with flash over HDMI out on my 57" for free this weekend. Try that ipad fans!!!
