Need advice withe my Geforce 8200 iGPU problem

My tower is connected to my monitor/TV via HDMI. Now the problem is that the screen always seems to flicker & flash whenever I'm streaming video like on youtube or playing online flash based games. The same happens if I'm watching video with VLC.

[*]I have uninstalled all nVidia drivers an installed drivers supplied by the mobo manufacturer.

I then figured it had to do with DirectX, so I ran the utility. Both DirectDraw & Direct3D failed so I disabled them. This seemed to help a little bit but didn't last.

Lastly, I contacted the manufacturer and opened a support ticket telling them the issue. They suggested I buy a video card and disable the iGPU as it's more cost effective. (They don't know I have an extended warranty)

So are they saying it's defective by telling me that? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated as this is driving me crazy, you have no idea.

...yep it seems defective. D3D shouldn't fail unless the GPU or the software has failed. Before sending the board back, if possible, reinstall windows. It may be that somehow the drivers got corrupted (or the directX part of Win) and they might give you these gremlins. It's a small chance but maybe worth checking.

/offtopic: If they would tell me to "buy a video card and disable the iGPU as it's more cost effective" I would make dam' sure they get my board and fix it or make them send me a new graphics card. Why should you buy one... It may not be cost effective for them to fix it, then they just send you a new motherboard or a discrete graphics card.

I was hoping that wasn't the case... and I might skip the reinstall because it did it with WinXP & Win7... and I wish they would send me a card but manufacturer warranty is up... extended is through CompUSA but it's discontinued so who knows what I would get back, lol.

Thanks for the input and any more comments or suggestions are welcomed

It sounds like the manufacturer is being lazy!

Let them know you have the extended warranty and see what they say.

In the mean time it seems your 8200 is faulty to me.

Good news... called warranty company and got an RMA. I have a feeling i'll be getting a check though as the board has been discontinued a couple years.

//Off topic: Interesting side note... XFX board is listed as a Pine Tech mobo???

Thanks for the help
