which chipset 775 bench? - Page 2

The 780i chipset would be ok...but in all honesty go for an Asus Commando or another X965 or an X48 chipset. Stay away from the EP45 UD3P/R simply because they limit the P4/Celly voltage at 1.4v.

I would look for a board with P45 chipset they were very good clockers and you are not really going to push the chipset with a P4 or a celeron, you could look for a pentium dual core they can be found pretty cheap also.

Actually there was an asus commando in the trade forum here for $80 a few days ago

ebay is your friend......the others are right 965 for anything with a 533fsb be carefull alot of the x38, p45, x48 wont boot with a 533fsb chip in it i learned that the hard way a few times. Check http://hwbot.org and look up your processors in the search engine and see what people have good results with. Newer chipsets not worth benching like g41/43. Good luck. That being said if your still learning or considering subzero its not bad to learn on a cheap board.

Oh yea 780i is a TERRIBLE choice imo I had a 780iftw and a 750iftw by far my least favorite boards. At the time they were only good because they supported 3 way sli.
Just my two cents hope that helps ya.

mm thanks

having a look around ebay
x48 boards ( not in aus. have to ship them in ) are around the $300 mark :O!
theirs a gigabyte 965P-DS3? should be able to get it.. has no heatsinks on just about anything though lol only north/south bridge ( little ones )
but its a hit or miss with ebay :/
and only supports ddr2 800

theirs a second hand GA-EP45-DS4, not sure of the price atm..
it any good? might be able to get a DOA if brought it. unlike ebay ( as far as i know. )
supports ddr2 1333

but the board on ebay is $50 plus postage
the other one be $70 or so plus postage..

sub-zero? possiably DICE later on, for now most likley be either Air ( like a TRUE push/pull 3k rpm scyth fans + fans coolin board ) but uhh yeah.
