MB replacement back plate issue. Please help

I am going crazy here. My IQ must have dropped 40 points in the last hour.

I have 2 Sandy Bridge builds.
I got the replacement motherboards last night.
Replaced the first one, no problem.

THis morning, when doing the second one, I ran into this strange issue.

I took off the CPU cooler and tried to put it on the new board.
It is a True and has the 1155 bracket.

When I put the bracket on the new board (without the cooler yet installed), there is a lot of movement in the bracket system - e.g. it is not snug and tight on the motherboard.

Then when I tried to go back to the original motherboard, I have the same issue! I have no idea how it worked to begin with.

The only way the bracket seems to fit on the bottom of the motherboard results in the screw holes coming up through the motherboard on the other side by a bit - so when I screw the bracket in, of course there is movement since there is nothing keeping the bracket from moving.

I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

It's normal. When you install the cooler it's not going to be wobbly anymore smile.gif

Thanks.

I have installed this thing about 5 other times and the strange thing is I never noticed the wobble! I think that is because the other times I kept it on the table. This time I lifted it to move it elsewhere which is when I noticed the wobble.
