The people supporting crysis 2 are on the stance that "not everyhting can be perfect", "It couldn't have lived up to the 1st one", etc... But the issues with crysis 2 are not small. The game seriously looks just the same or even worse than the 1st one. Just take a good long look at the foliage or the water, you'll get it, and no, bloom doesn't look good. I just cannot understand why I should put 60€ for a title that doesn't even improve upon the first one. It's freaking 4 years later I think they could have given us better graphics than c1? Also going backwards in graphics options or actually going backwards on just about anything is unacceptable, especially if it's done on multiple aspects of the game.

Another thing is the multiplayer. I guess this is a matter of opinion, but Crysis 2 is a CoD wannabe, it just is. At least in crysis 1 we had different kinds of maps, modes etc. Now we have a run'n'gun game that has worse gameplay than CoD and uses horrible amounts of motion blur to make the game seem better looking. Also they gimped the suit.

And then there are the small things. Yes I know complaining about one small thing would be nitpicking but together they add up. I mean they were seriously gonna ship it with "press start to begin"? they have a xbox controller on options and a TV brightness adjust thing. I'm glad the aim assist is out tho.

Then there is of course the fact that Crytek have not said anything about the PC version. They could atleast confirm that they have DX11, or when the patch is gonna be out. They could also confirm some advanced options. All we need is an honest statement about a few facts. I'm going to buy your game if you give me the stuff I want, if not then there's no need to try to keep the suckiness a secret.

Please I want to buy Crysis 2, and I want it to be a game that I can play and have fun with. I want nice graphics and customizable option and all that. The first one had those, I don't think they're too much to ask.

thanks.
1. noone has seen the full version of the pc yet. I seriously doubt that it will be seen until launch and the patch is released also. As far as it goes for dx9, it's damn good. The foliage and the water look really good and crytek has added more trees than there actually are in new york to give that love again. they justified it by saying that more people would be "green" and it would be a greener city by 2023 or whatever it's currently set at. the graphics are very good for console viewing and that's what you saw in the mp. even the final game will not have as good of graphics in mp as in sp. that's usually aways the case anyway. even bf3 will not be as good looking in mp as in sp.

2. So tired of the COD copout. maybe you think it feels like COD but why are you judging two maps, two small maps, on the whole mp experience. it wasn't done at the time of the demo and that's only two of 9 maps. COD does not have the verticle depth that crysis has also.

3. How is the suit nerfed? it does more choices now than in the 1st one. Also there's hidden things that crytek is letting the user find out about on their own that they just talked about today like hitting strength while using the sniper gun to stay steady in armor mode or holding the kick button instead of tapping it to make objects fly farther and etc.

4. Crytek never announced they would ship the pc version with "press start". that's stupid rumor mill bs. don't listen to faux statements like that.

5. It does have dx10/11 coming in a patch that is suppose to be on launch day.

6. I haven't a clue why they haven't advertised the graphics of the pc. maybe because the pc community is always undeserving and you might as well show them one product, instead of advancements of a product. if they showed alpha pc screenshots then there would be the biggest ****storm about how downgraded the pc is. just to please the pc community they ported the xbox demo and look how that turned out. that has NOTHING to do with how the final version of sp or mp will look on the pc.

7. I wish they would say something on the patch but they aren't. It seems like they are honestly talking just to germany mags. If you want it to be good then wait for review on launch day. If you are worried about graphics then don't buy anything until you see how it looks with the patch. I like the game but I really don't see the need in having what you get through preordering. You aren't losing out by not playing it at launch. Just don't listen to the people that want to hate, just to hate. at least 60% of the people who bash the product probably never played the xbox demo to begin with. They are the same people who are bashing Dragon Age 2 without playing and bashed Bulletstorm without playing and will bash Duke Nukem without playing and on and on. They aren't the majority and they don't deserve your time.

My theory atleast.

Each part except last is console.

That's how I feel. I need them so show the PC singleplayer version.
Crytek's jungles looked great but their interior/concrete structures weren't great. So it was interesting why they went to New York. DX11 could really help the concrete surfaces become more realistic, otherwise it will be a bunch of flat surfaces like in the demo. BF3 is using DX11 to enhance their concrete surfaces and C2 can do the same. Whether people want it or not, DX11 is coming to C2, we'll have to see how much of an impact it will have. If Nvidia's 2 million dollar investment means anything, we'll see some heavy tessellation options enabled in this game. The question is when.

The Nanosuit with heavy tessellation would be badass.

I agree with some of your complaints, the main one being, no word from Crytek on DX11 and other options yet. I almost have a feeling they will not comment on it before release now. MP isn't the best either, but at least it is there if people do like it. I will still probably play it even though I am more interested in SP.

I really don't agree with your points on graphics though. You are basing this on the demo which was MP and a port at that from the Xbox demo. SP "should" look quite a bit better. MP in Crysis 1 looked worse than SP also. I say "should" because I don't know beings the game is not out yet.

Also, I went back about a month ago and started up Crysis 1 again. To tell you the truth, it really doesn't look that great anymore. Still good, but don't get the same feeling I did back when it was released. Sure there are MODS to make it look better, but there will be some for Crysis 2 also in the future I'm sure to make it look just as good.

I'm not supporting Crysis 2, I just think people should hold off on certain judgements yet till it is actually released. Only a few more days left.

I'm not a big Crysis fan but back in the day, around 07 I remember there was an FAQ about Crysis or an interview of some sort with the lead developer being asked if they were ever going to release the game for console and he replied by saying that what they wanted to achieve was not possible on console. These are the same consoles that are still around now.

Did they sell out to console gamers?

If I recall, Gabe Newell and several others from Valve said VERY similar if not exact same things. Gabe even particularly bashed the PS3 a lot. Guess who pooped their pants come the last E3 when the big man on campus comes strolling out on Sony's stage taking everything he's said back?

It's not selling out. Selling out would be not developing a PC game at all or one that barely even worked, yet alone performed properly. And, like usual, 90% of the crap being said and argued about with Crysis 2 is way over the top exaggerated beyond it's actual significance.

Sure guys there are a bunch of problems with the Crysis 2 demo, but it's not the end of the world. Most of this stuff is insignificant to the game as a whole. DX11 for example. DX10 in Crysis 1 was useless minus the insignificant rainbow effects in water. DX9 with some modded configs had all the same stuff. Why anyone expected Crytek to have some kind of magical DX11 like DX10 to begin with is beyond me.

The press Start menu thing. Geez people. Lost Planet had nothing but console controller buttons for its menu. Still does. Great PC game none the less and has plenty to say for the platform over the console ports.

The multiplayer itself I am personally disapointed with. They definetly went the wrong direction with it. I wouldn't say it's "consolified" though. They did it to attempt to appeal to a larger audience. Crysis Wars was FANTASTIC and unique multiplayer. But, it wasn't popular yet alone working properly enough to gain significant attention yet alone a chance for Crysis 2. I kind of suspected it long before anyone had any idea what Crysis 2's MP would be like that this situation would occur. I just didn't think it would be such a poor attempt. Again. That's not really Crytek selling out to consoles though, that's Crytek just flat out sucking at multiplayer design lol

Also could someone clarify what's this whole deal about Direct X? Did they use the equivalent of DX9 or something? If so that's quite a downgrade.

Anyway, I'm gonna wait for the full game to be released. If the original Crysis or Crysis Warhead ends up looking better then it/having more open maps with more models being drawn at once. Then it would confirm a slight dumbing down of the game.

Press start isn't a fix. And removing aim assist from multiplayer, what about singleplayer?

What about the washed out graphics? No mention of that. OR the fact my 9600GSO is apparently unsupported?

Graphics did not look washed out to me but then again maybee the
"Asus 9600GSO" is to blame. considering the System requirments for the game:

System Requirements for Crysis 2
OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, with the latest Service Pack
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz, or AMD Athlon 64 x2 2Ghz (SUBJECT TO CHANGE), or better
Memory: 2GB
Hard Disk Space: 9Gb (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
Video Card: NVidia 8800GT with 512Mb RAM or better, ATI 3850HD (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) with 512Mb RAM or better
Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
DirectX®: 9.0c
