About to buy a C300 - Page 2

Should be able to use sleep fine.
Should even be able to use hibernate fine but I wouldn't since it creates a file on your drive in equal size to your RAM capacity.

Just use your computer like you normally would, the C300 is rated conservatively for a write life of 72 TB.

Thanks, I guess i'll just disable hibernation and stick with sleep, If I am going to be away from my laptop for that long I might as well just shut down, it's going to be blazingly fast at booting anyway. Any word on System/File Restores?

I guess I could wait, but I don't think prices will change drastically for a while, I'm going to just go ahead and buy it since I will be using my laptop regularly during spring break, and not so much during school...

C400 isn't going to be any better for me since my laptop is limited to SATA I believe. (Alienware m11xR2)

So i ordered my C300 Can't freaking wait!
Had some quick questions since I want to do this right the first time.
Are there any firmware updates I should be aware of?
Any precautions/steps I should take before/while installing my new baby?
Thanks!

FW 0006 is the most current.
In the unlikely event you get a 0001 revision drive, upgrade to 0002 before applying 0006.

Flash the new firmware, and in BIOS switch mode from IDE to AHCI.
Once Windows is installed, start tweaking it like described in the sticky on this sub-forum and the topic in the OCZ forum.

I built a new computer last week with 2 - C300 64GB in Raid0. They score around 840 on AS SSD.

Now Im reading around about Raid0 and TRIM not working, but Garbage Collection still works. What is a sure way of telling the drives are idle or getting your drives idle?

well for power the ssd takes lees but sata controller uses more. as for sata 2 and 3 i got mine hooked via sata 2 ports. still getting killer read/writes, now for vertex or ocz i would stay clear i got 3 vertex drives and 2 are unrecoverable and the one that dose work loose data about 4 times a year and needs clean and then reinstall.

Log out of Windows and let your system sit there for an hour or two.
