It reached it's potential IMO, Crysis just stole it's thunder. Crysis came out a year earlier and with the Far Cry series originating with Crytek, the 2 games were seen as competitors despite the vastly different gameplay and art style. Crysis delivered insane visuals at the time and while Far Cry 2 is beautiful and it's optimization is FAR superior to Crysis', it didn't beat Crysis in terms of graphics and physics/destruction which, for many, was what it was all about. I mean, most people bought the 2 games for the graphics. The gameplay was nice, but the graphics were what it was about. I personally only got Far Cry 2 over Crysis because I found the Crysis demo slightly boring. Might've gotten both if I hadn't played the crap out of the Crysis demo.

I just reinstalled Far Cry 2 to run some benches and I think it'd be awesome to play it again on my new rig. Back when it was released I was playing on an 8800 GT which certainly didn't have the power to do the highest settings.

To comment on the OP: I lol'd when he said that their engine is lightweight... That thing runs like a truck, my old C2D stood no chance.

I wish we'd seen more games done on the Dunia engine. I still maintain that Fallout 3 would have been nigh on perfect if it used the Dunia engine instead of Gamebryo.

I think if you look past your own personal opinions and the rather immature hate bandwagon, you'd see what they have actually done and succeeded. I would however be the first to say CoD needs to reinvent its brand, image and technical aspects as I see it starting to wear thin.
CoD 1, 2 and 4 were great, it got old after yearly reskins. That doesn't take away from the fact that CoD itself is fun to pickup and play but it is the principle of the matter. I won't pay $60 dollars for a reskin with slightly different gun stats and new maps every year.

I really enjoy MW2's multiplayer on the original MW2 maps. Domination is the best!

So true. Alas, it was not so. Here's to hoping the Skyrim one is more stable though.
