Swapped my GTX295 for a GTX580 literally

Hi peeps just thought I would share my more than good news! After attending the fermi event at Scan last year I have been wanting to get my hands on a GTX480 looking all over for some poor sole with a problem GPU and now at long last my ever ending struggle has stopped. I purchased a GTX 580 from a guy on Ebay who claimed the card came to him in a box of components ? I thought no way!! So I took the risk and after receiving the card and many hours installing and uninstalling drivers I took the plunge and took it apart to find liquid coolant behind the backplate!! Well I got the misses to root out the hair dryer applied some MX-2 to the GPU and hay presto FIXED ... I only payed £80 delivered and have since sold my GTX295 so minus Ebay and Paypal fees I have swapped my original card and made a tenner he he ha ha

Lol nice!

I would never pay that much for a "dead" card though. You got lucky.

Congrats on your lucky purchase. Though I recommend if you're purchasing a non-working or unknown condition card, always take it apart first before turning it on. Like in your case the water could have short-circuited and blown something on it so you were really lucky you found out the issue before it was too late.

I would have but from the description in the listing the card seemed to be less than a month old and the guy said he was a computer engineer so I originally thought he would have took it apart to take a look and thanx for congratulating me
