It must be different revisions then, weirdly enough.

For what reason please?

A +12V current rating of 384W is about typical of a quality 430W unit.

The Basiq series changes too much for me to keep track of. When are they finally going to be totally phased out and replaced with VP series?

Never been a huge fan of the BP units, this is why.

That PSU is like 4 years old and ATX2.2. Just because it doesn't fit into today's standard anymore doesn't mean you can just degrade it, doesn't it?

And yes, I just confirmed Newegg has the old picture still since we upgraded the 550 PLUS in 2009 wink.gif

Basiq BP will be phased out this year. You can get VP450P in Europe for like ~33 EUR incl VAT, will be available in the States soon as well, the whole VP series.

I got myself a BP500U for a 2ndary rig - that one is actually pretty good.

According to hardwaresecrets, it has 80+ efficiency, active PFC, low noise/ripple, and is actually underrated, since it can provide around ~600w.

So I guess the BP500U is the only good one in the lineup huh? headscratch.gif

Yeah I believe it was 424 or 444W on the 550+ in my clients' PCs
Great PSU actually if at a good price

So the old BP550 has 384 watts on the 12v rail, the new BP550 has 444 watts?

Is this just a sticker change or is this because the new one actually better/has better internal components?

My friend got his BP550 2 months ago - can he trade his for a new version if it is the latter?

We changed it one year ago, the PSU is much better since it comes with 80 PLUS standard for example. If he bought it 2 months ago and still has the old revision it must have been old stock or some mistake. He should contact the dealer for a change.
