Question about my OC settings

Thread Starter
Alright so I have been away from the hardcore overclocking scene for some time now and I have been getting more and more into it, but I was curious what everyone thought of what I have at the moment.

AMD Athlon II x4 955BE
GA-890GPA-UD5H mobo
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus fan

Been running Prime95 with blend for about 20 minutes and its stable. But I was more wondering if I am doing this properly based on the cpu-z picture below. If anyone has any input please let me know .

everything seems fine, as long as temperatures aren't over 60C, it shouldn't be a problem. Also, don't go over 1.5V

BTW, keep prime95 running for at least a couple of hours if you want to make sure its completely stable

I actually just overclocked to the same settings for someone who has the exact board + cpu. Although he had his cpu voltage at 1.45 and I had to crank mine up to 1.5 to make the bluescreens stop. But check this out, still kind of new so hoping this is somewhat good or non-damaging to my system.

Once again any input if this is silly or anything is much appreciated

run prime95 for 12 hours or more. try to keep the temps under 55c. you start losing performance at 55c. if it is stable, thats really nice.
also, did you oc your nb ? might not make it to 2800 but most everyone can hit 2700. everyone can hit 2600 no problem on stock voltage. a little harder for some over 2650.

well so far this is what is going on, since I'm still trying to remember how to OC and reading AMD guides, what I did was OC the HT link and the NB I believe both to 2250Mhz, because they need to be the same speed correct?

Also I see a lot of people hovering around 2200-2400Mhz for the HT and NB, I thought I heard at one point that its good to not have it super high? I am probably wrong but just checking.

And for the last thing, with Prime95 running for an hour the highest temp I have gotten has been 60c. So maybe if I turn the multiplier down a tick to 4.0Ghz and turn the voltage down 1 notch that should help? But I was getting BSODs with the voltage below 1.5 so I am not totally sure.

Any help would be much much much appreciated

Well just a little bit of an update, I put my FSB back to 200 (default) and put my VCore at 1.4 and my HT and NB at 2400 and my Multiplier at x20. Basically just OCing with the multiplier. But by not touching the FSB will that affect performance much?

P.S. - I'm mainly a gamer if that helps.

Ok this is my current setup, again...sorry if I'm replying too soon, but I think i might be reading to many peoples OC settings and am feeling insecure haha.

Another question tho. Is it smart to have my HT set at 2160 and my NB set at 2400? I'll stop till I get a reply I swears!

But this is what I have at the moment:

Leaving the HT Link at default shouldn't cause any noticeable performance difference, usually when overclocking, you want to keep the HT and NB as close to default as possible since it helps to keep the temps low.

I think you're set as long as you don't exceed 1.52V and 60C on the CPU

I must have done the worst thermal paste job ever because I just reseated my heatsink for my 212+ and it was on like half of the cpu :|. So I re-seated it and applied it properly and with this OC I am getting 55c under full load...time to push to 4Ghz? :O
