i dont think this will affect many sales... people just dont care...

Why? If this doesn't effect you whatsoever, then why is it necessary to sell a console that has good exclusive games?

I think should be worrying and selling their PS3 if they have used Geohot's hack.

Actually with Sony's actions atm they're not getting the best publicity. As you can see ITT people want to SELL their PS3.

No point in selling it, but those same users are not likely to support and purchase other Sony branded products. A good rep is always good to have...

Wow. If the issue is illegally developing a "hack" for a console and distributing that information, does it matter that people wanted to "donate" money for him doing that? The "hack" development preceded monetary donations (it seems), but regardless, the illegal act was the hack itself, not people gifting paypal money, right? So I don't understand why a paypal record would be pertinent at all when it's been proven/admitted that he developed the hack in the first place. Is Sony interested in pursuing follow-up litigation with the people who donated money too?

I think Sony is more interested in WHO donated, and how much funding he has for legal fees. The who is important to Sony since it was RUMOURED that Microsoft may have donated to his cause. I doubt it matters but there's definitely an agenda

Its financially supporting an illegal act.

Sure, but I guess my point is that regardless of who may have supported his actions, for the current litigation, it doesn't matter since only he is the one being prosecuted--not other people that may have donated money to support his efforts.

Of course I don't have all the info, but it doesn't seem like having the names/accounts of people who gifted paypal money would be necessary to the initial prosecution (unless Sony is later interested in going after the individuals who did donate).

I guess my main point is that regardless of who supported his actions (or not), it doesn't have any bearing on the fact that he did what he did, and at this moment, he's the one on the hot seat.
