Can someone please help me figure out if this graphics card can run on this PSU?

I am eying this graphics card to replace my NVidia GeForce 9300 GE on my HP computer. However, it says the card requires a minimum of 400W, and I believe my PSU is only 350W. However, I hear people say that the wattage shouldn't be taken heavily, as the more important thing is something to do with a '12V rail." I'm not sure what any of this means. I just want to see if I can upgrade with my current PSU.

I want to upgrade to this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...z65xCF5nkqhj8g

My PSU powers a Intel Q6600, Nvidia Geforce 9300 GE

Let me know if any other pieces of information are needed.

Here's a picture of my PSU. Sorry about the low quality.

Also, do you think this card will fit inside my case? It's one of those pre-built HP Desktop towers.

Since it's a generic PSU i'd say no,

Also, why are you upgrading your GPU to something that's only marginly better. It would be better and more cost effective for you to wait, get a better PSU then a better GPU.

It's not a generic. Generic vs. OEM are two different things. This one is made by Delta Electronics, and while it is low-end it is not junk.

With a +12V rating of only 18A I'd call it a 275W at best, but that's more than you'd think. I'd say you could safely power an HD5670 or something similar in power consumption.

Nevermind, combined +12V rating of 300W. You could safely power an HD5770 or the like.

It's a decent 350w Delta. You'd be able to run any <150w card on it. The 5550 has a TDP of less than 50w AFAIK, so you're fine.

Ignore manufacturer recommendations, same goes for PSU calculators.

Thanks guys! I just purchased it thanks to the veteran advice in this thread.

Hopefully it'll fit in my case. It shouldn't be that big right?
