Yeah any USB audio device would be good. They are commonly called "DAC"s.

(edit) By any I mean the ones over $50, the really cheap ones might not be any better then your onboard tongue.gif.

I have one of these with my Studio XPS and it makes a pretty noticeable difference. The difference in gaming is huge and music is up there too.

Do you live by a Fry's? That's where I got mine. You can pick one up try it out. If it doesn't help return it. I have returned stuff to Fry's before, so I can't see why they wouldn't return this. Might want to check first. Don't really know if it would fix it :/

IF your sound card is the cause of that, then a USB DAC would help. How do songs sound played through windows media player? I don't want you to buy something then find out it was a software bug or something tongue.gif.

This is a great DAC that is recommended at Head-Fi. I am currently using it and it makes music sound so much better. It also functions as a headphone amplifier when you're on the go.

The Nuforce uDac-2 is also a good choice at the same price range, but that needs to be hooked up to a computer for it to turn on since it has no battery.
