Your not going to notice anything really. Now if you did multi task, video editing, folding, etc... then you would see a HUGE boost. Also your Q66 cannot hit 4.0 unless you had water, and even then it has to be a golden chip. Things run hot as hell!

Also you will see a much better increase in gaming with a new GPU. Grab a 560Ti, 5770, or hell, even a GTS450. You will crap bricks at how much more powerful they are compared to your 8600GT.

I like these suggestions ..Will save me some money and seems more logical. So, I'm thinking:
-560 TI..(My motherboard board is 1.0 yet, the card is 2.0..I don't think there is much of a performance difference, right?)
-WD 1tb black (I can't afford an ssd)..will I really see a performance increase over my current HD?
-HAF922
-Would you guys recommend a ram upgrade?

I really do appreciate all this, thanks again!

As for the ram, you won't notice a real world difference so no. And the WD Black will be nice, also consider the Samsung Spinpoint F3.

The thing is, I'm buying this from a local shop and they don't have the F3 but I've been reading that the WD 1tb is pretty good as well. This is also pretty important, how much of a bottleneck am I going to see with a stock q6600 and a beast GPU like the 560?

Bump it up to 3 Ghz (really easy to do) and you shouldn't have any bottleneck. At stock, I honestly couldn't tell you for sure.

In that case, I'll try to learn how to OC this puppy. With these upgrades, how long do you think the system can last? I just don't want to put all this cash and then have to upgrade again in a year. If that were the case I'm better off saving for a new pc.

yeah either a new ssd to resolve this or fresh install of windows will do wonders as well.

I like to do a fresh install every 12-18 months myself

Welcome to OVERCLOCK.net lol... The cash your putting into it will go straight into your next build. You get the GTX 560 now for current gaming, when you want to move on to a new chipset and upgrade further then slap in another 560 for some SLI action. Did the same thing when I moved on from my Q6600 build back in the day. Had a similar system to yours but with a GTX 260, then I moved onto i7 and slapped in another 260 and it was a BEAST. I've moved on several times since then but you get my drift..
