Partical effects and textures do it.

Sorry to tell you this by adding more cards will not increase your vram! You must understand that they are mirrors of each other. All the same information on each card. SLI is for rendering power only. It has to do with you PCIe band width, if you were to swap information between cards using the PCIe it will be very slow. So they put a copy of the same information on each card.

Hehe no, memory is not being "added".

All the cards are using the same information.
Aka the 1.2GB in card 1 has the almost exact data in card 2, 3 and 4.
You don't have 4.5GB of DDR5. You have 1.2GB per card.

The default for nvidia, is alternate frames, which means each card does a frame, aka card 1 does frame 1 with all the information, card 2 does frame 2, and so on.

Adding a 4th card won't make it better. Especially as quad barely scale over 3 in most games.

yeah kinda sucks that they dont load up each card with 2GB or GDDR5, ohh lol just thought of it and your cards have even less memory than mine ouch!!!

the GTX 590 is rumored to have 4Gb.

Have you checked to see if its a GPU memory wall, run evga percision with the memory usage(%) for each GPU in an OSD while playing?

Dude stop it!
Stop throwing things without checking yourself first.

The 590 will have 3GB of memory, 1.5GB per GPU.
It was already confirmed.
There is even a nice post in the news section about it.

Okay so quick question..I know you need dual link dvi cables for 120hz output. Unfortunately my farthest monitor to the left wont reach my computer so i use an hdmi cable with a dvi adapter. Except, i noticed the adapter doesnt have all the pins like the dual link dvi cables do. Does the hdmi cable make up for this? or is this why im not getting 120hz on my surround resolution?

Yeah, that might be the case.
You can either use a full HDMI cable and use a small adapter with full pins, or use a full pins DVI to HDMI.
As long as your monitor support HDMI 1.4 or 1.4a of course. Else, you will have to use a dual-link DVI from side to side.

Any good computer store has a longer dvi-dvi cables And most of them are dual-link. But just make sure.
To my furthest monitor I also had to get a replacement cable to connect it, as the basic DVI cable was just 20cm short.
