[TPU] AMD FX-Series CPU's Releasing on June 11th - Page 5

People seem to forget the main reason that the Thuban's lagged seriously behind Intel's hexa-core and it wasn't just hyperthreading. In order to keep the cost down and stay in their market of offering price/performance processors, they did not increase the cache on the hexacores from the quad cores, effectively meaning you had six cores having to share the same amount of cache that was running on a Phenom II X4 (which was already lacking compared to the i series Intel processors). I'll be very eager to see how much cache L2/L3 cache they put on these bad boys. And AMD really needs to come up with something comparable to hyperthreading if they want to come close to Intel. I am in no way an Intel Fanboy btw, look at my graphics card...

New, very different architecture and new fab tech --> make estimates of performance based on previous architecture and previous fab tech???????

What?

Oh please, an efficient architecture will deliver efficient results regardless of the application.

Are you blind or what? AMD just released the Radeon HD 6990, and that's the world's fastest video card. And, because of the clock speeds the GTX 590 is being released at, it'll be slower than it. It'll be just a bit slower than a GTX 570 SLI. Stop being a fanboy.

and Bulldozer won't compete?
I... don't really get the point in the chart you posted. The 2600k (a quad core) outperforms the 1090t (6 core) by 90 seconds. Edit: And stock 2600k by about 20. No clock mentioned for that 1090t (I'm lead to assume that means stock, but who knows who created that chart) and the 2600k is just around its peak at 4.9GHz. Architecture outperforms just throwing extra cores in. I was just saying: out of experience, Intel has been ahead for too long now and I predict Bulldozer won't change that. I haven't messed with any 1100t yet but I've handled 3 1090s since they launched. Not much of a fanboy view at all (especially considering my AMD history) I'm just going out of my own experience. I'm ALWAYS messing with both sides of every market and I base my decision on my findings. Seems some here (lols @ JCP) go very defensive about that and feel the need to throw the f word at me. (fanboy)

Pffft a $700 card. I would only HOPE it outperforms what's currently out. That's all I've been stating here. AMD is just now finally coming out with Bulldozer, it's going to be a huge letdown if it doesn't OUTPERFORM (closely within the same price level) the already existing SB that released 5 months before Bulldozer.

A utterly hate RED, this is a bad sign for me....

Something tells me I'm going to be passing on Zambezi...

3 Months away, I think I'll wait for OC Specs on this one, I gotta see how they perform vs the i7-2600k, that's one hella huge monster to beat AMD!

For $200 I'd rather get the i5-2500k than any other processor on the market right now... AMD is going to have to bring it and hard to win me over...

Quad cores are more than enough for me in most instances, and I don't even need/use hyper-threading..

Well... everyone is forgetting that the 4 core have a technology called HT and the 6 core doesn't ...

Each company went a different route making a R&D for a different technology ... i7's HT works really great ... so you must take that in consideration

My 2 cents

IMO, Intel can have the lead over AMD in the top performance chips. AMD being slightly behind makes for better prices.

It's gonna be just a bit slower than a GTX 570 SLI. Don't know where you got this idea that AMD's behind when it comes to GPUs. They've been at the top ever since they released the 5970.

Hardly even that.

1100t: $230
2500k: $220

???
