So it's not the first eight-core processor. Who cares? Name one other eight-core CPU that's within an acceptable budget.

-With Intel you get 4 big cores each with a thread.
-With AMD you get 8 integer cores, 2 cores that share resources and fit into the same die space as 1 Intel core.
-Bulldozer is whole new architecture... that should tell you something about the performance increase.
-Even if a 8 core bulldozer beats a 2600k people like you like still complain that's its not fair to compare a 8 core to a 4 core without understanding the differences between the architectures, your still stuck on the "core vs core" mindset.

Also doesn't the 2600k beat the higher priced 980x at times? Does that make the 980x a bad processor even though it has 2 more cores?

Finally, yes right now there is now point to buy a PhenomIIx6 when Intel has the 2500k for basically the same price. Hell no point to buy AMD unless your building your grandmother a $300 PC with an AthlonIIx2.
Well said.

I have a bad feeling that intel will have a trick up their sleeve if bulldozer performs. Infact they probably have a warehouse full of the "next big thing" just waiting to be tossed on the shelf as soon as AMD gets going. Least they got ATI and they're kickin some arse!

I jumped on the 1055T when it hit the shelves and was not disappointed. Looking forward to an 8-core Bulldozer
(not that I need the extra cores, its just all in good fun )
Anyone heard when AM3+ mobo's are rolling out?

Meh! Too little, too late. Even if BD manages to match SB, Intel will just counter with 6- 8-core Sandy Bridges for LGA1356/2011 and 22nm Ivy Bridges for LGA1155.

I hope AMD plans to compete with Intel in the enthusiast segment with 10- 12-core modules.

fanboy much?
you dont even know how powerful BD is.
AMD is naming it FX, so obviously its gonna meet/beat all the SBs out there.
and if intel releases their 6-8 core CPUs, they may cost over 1000 dollars (as usual)

then again, no1 knows the pricing scheme for FX CPU so who knows :/

This is exactly why AMD when the module design, HyperThreading can give you 10% increase but sometimes it can be -10% performance. To make it clear its

4 modules vs 4cores with hyper threading

Again we don't know the performance of Bulldozer and even if Intel does release 6-8 cores it would depend of the price.
