Just fine, 3.6GHz should be doable provided your motherboard can supply enough power. It OCs the same as a regular Phenom II

Yep, using the same trick to enable cores it seems the L3 cache could be unlocked. The difference between this 820 and your 965 will be that you need to do some base-clock OCing in stead of multi-OCing. This makes the motherboard much more important for the 820 as it needs to be capable of high HTT.

cheers

You can overclock normal cpus as well jus up the bus speeds. and to unlock the L3 cache you have to have the acc function.

Any CPU can be overclocked, Just need to be able to adjust the voltages, memory speeds, and it helps to up the north-bridge speed also. Gives quite a boost in memory performance and lowers the latency

The 820 is a C2 stepping so should clock similarly to other c2 stepping phenom ii x4s, which is just where you got it to.

How are your temps? My unlocked 740 (C2 stepping) also needs a lot of voltage to break 3.6 and runs too hot. I find I can run 3.4-3.5 with a lot less voltage and cooler.

I am not trying to thread jack you here, but i just bought the same chip, should be coming in tomorrow. A general question to the more experienced people here, being that i have a MA790X-UD4P Mobo, how far do you would my motherboard be capable of pushing this chip?
