Already at 1680x1050 it becomes clear that Dragon Age II is a very demanding game when using the Very High quality in-game preset. This is a game that will be truly enjoyed by multi-GPU owners as made evident by the dual-GPU Radeon HD 6990 that was capable of rendering 80fps.
Oye.... I really should upgrade my E6750..

Jesus, 31 FPS with an i7 @ very high with a 5850?

Sigh... You build a rig, and it's already outdated

Eh, you never want to play the waiting game when building a rig.

No matter what, something "better" is always around the corner.

Yep bro 5850 been outdated, bought mine used back in july. Not even half a year and it is subpar now.

Uhm, DX11 rendering + Very High detail settings is broken atm for Nvidia users. You can't benchmark that.

There's been a few minor [bugs] and a few technical hiccups on PC. The two biggies that I'm aware of - that we're looking at aggressively right now - are on PC there seems to be some compatibility issues with DirectX 11. The other biggie and this is one that frankly is a bit of a 'mare' - is the consoles have... Unfortunately it's invisible right now but there is an option for auto-attack to be turned on on the consoles so it plays in the way that Origins did where you'd pick your target and your character would continue to attack.

What I would say there is if you fire up the game and and it's running particularly slow or stuttery, move the renderer in visual options down to DirectX 9 for now. We're working with NVIDIA/AMD to make sure patches are coming out, because some if it is actually in the driver compatibility. We'll make sure that's rectified and resolved.
Typical kotaku "journalism".

For me on High Settings, my GPU would never go above 60% usage. So i got FPS from 22-50 but not at all stable. Even just standing still the frames would fluctuate from 20-50.

They need to revamp their engine with a patch or new drivers need to come out.

Eh, actually. The reason you most likely had 60% GPU usage is because you have a dual core that's bottlenecking.

My CPU usage was steady at around 70%. I have played games that are much more heavy than DA2. Crysis I had very high settings and got a good 30FPS, with GPU usage steady at 85%.

I have seen people with GTX 580s with a Core2 and they have gotten more FPS than me. It is surely the drivers or the game, no bottleneck.

Never seen someone bottleneck a GTX 280 with an overclocked Core2

Yeah, with my 580 I get SEVERE graphical glitches at very high and horrid FPS. Whole sections of the screen go black and "smear". Something is very wrong with Nvidia cards in this game. It's really only at Very High that it's this bad, but even at High my GPU usage hovers around 70-80% and I'm getting around 40 FPS which seems a bit odd :\\
