HAF X Watercooling project - Page 7

I was going to try to add more hds but I decided to liquid cool and use external drives through firewire or usb 3.0. I can't fit all that with the liquid cooling can I?
-Add Does anyone have a photo from the back end going to the front end? I see tubing just disappear into the front bays.
This is also addressed to the OP. If you're thinking of putting your fan controller and pump/res in the 5.25" bays of a HAF-X, there are some nasty potential side-effects you should be aware of. First off, I found it really hard to get my xspc dual bay res to fit into my haf-x; I actually had to lube it up to get it to slide in. Being such a tight fit, the vibrations from the pump will be rigidly coupled to the metal drum that the haf-x chassis is, which can amplify your pump's noise.

Also, be careful with placing your fan speed controller beside your pumps. I'm not sure how efficient the aquero is, but unless it's pwm I'm thinking it would give off quite a bit of heat. I've heard that ddcs might fail if they're not cooled adequately and cramming them into the bays with no ventilation and another heat source right beside them probably won't do them much good.

I'm on an H50 now in my HAF-X, thinking about going full loop with swiftech parts (I've got an old D5 from them to use, and a single rad that isn't very useful for me, but I may use for a CPU loop with a new Apogee XT block). Thanks everyone for posting in this thread, giving me some great ideas.

My loop should eventually be a triple radiator on top, CPU block (2600k) and GPU block (6950, 2x if I ever go CF), and maybe my old D5 if it's up to snuff when I take it out of the box it's been in for around 5 years.

Hey Davs. So where would you put the res at then? Also for everyone I was wondering if there is a big difference between the 240 and 360? If I go with the 240 with a 120 on the back it should open up more spaces for the controller and disc drives.

My plan as from start is (if i stay in the HAF-X ) 360 at top and 120 at exhaust back

Mind of your Total Radding capacity. You can go with 240+120 indeed depending on how many W you have to rad out. The RX360 as example can be around 500W still keping Fans around 1800 rpm. See SkinnyLabs for tests and charts on those data.
And also consider 2x rad = more restriction for your flow = more pump job to cope with

It's some people from OCN who made those; there are also bigger cases; you can check them out in Hardware Vendor section of the forum, neat stuff indeed!
