[EG]Heavy Rain sequel ruled out - Page 3

Heavy rain was a great game...im actually glad theres no sequel.

for me, Heavy Rain was a once off thing. i cant understand how people can keep playing through it, when the outcome was always the same, it was only your choices that mattered and in the end, you had to force certain choices against your own nature and morals in order to see different things, something i dont like.

final anime girls xiii

super mario xxviii x2 in space with water
wii sports
all those crappy asus jrpg's
jrpg's that are all the same
all those ugh shooters
gta spinoffs
super same bros melee 2
casualized sequels
heavy rain-the interactive novel
more pseudo-indie sony games
nintendo's modern sucky games
square enix makes a shooter
castlesamia: No new sprites
professor layton xvi
ds games in general, especially games that should have been on a home platform.

Japanese games are what have taken the biggest hits. Modern japanese games are so cliche, unevolved (sequels with little to no improvements), etc.

I liked older console games like valkyrie profile, older ff's, some fire emblem games, games that aren't about 12 year old big boobs anime girls, non-weaboo 2d fighters, some 3d fighters, resident evil, etc.

I thought it had different endings no? Was looking forward to see what other ways the story could twist and end on different playthroughs frown.gif

I need to get my mates PS3 fixed... it'll let me give heavy rain a go, the only PS3 exclusive game I've wanted to play so far.
Damn it! I forgot to put my flame suit on!!! mad.gif

To everyone,

It's not that I don't play on consoles, but I utterly despise the whole concept of "exclusives", and thus boycott all those games. (Even great games like MGS3 and 4 after having played the 1 and 2)

I like being given the choice of playing games on the PC.

PFFF. Like if Call of Duty and stuff like that isn't also on PC.
While the PC has the greatest potential of all gaming consoles, it fails do deliver one thing: ground-breaking, jaw-dropping, mind-blowing exclusives. They may not play at 2560x1440, they may not have amazing textures and tesselation or 16xAA but I honestly don't care. I'd choose Heavy Rain over Crysis a milion times.

Seriously? Out of all the great games you pick CoD? I wouldn't play it even if it was a PC exclusive. And I'd pick Starcraft over Heavy Rain any day.

I agree. Heavy Rain tied things up nicely the first time through. A sequel would be strange. Still, I'd love to have had more DLC. The move, though nice doesn't really replace my desire to see more into their backgrounds.

How else could they have given us different choices without forcing us to take a path we weren't planning on taking the first time? I believe the director talked about this issue. He said something along the lines of your first play through being your real heavy rain ending. Anything else is just reply value.

If you like games strongly focused on their storyline, a series to definitely check out (emulator or otherwise) is the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series. Like Heavy Rain, it involves finding a killer that you usually get to know (without knowing their identity) pretty early. Unlike Heavy Rain, you, the player, are a big part of making sure the storyline comes through. You have to decide the theories, pick the right evidence, etc.

I absolutely loved Heavy Rain, but even as a 2D DS game, Phoenix Wright is my preference for murder mystery.

Phoenix Wright is awesome, I have the first three games on DS, still haven't finished the third and I haven't played it since 2008, I'll have to restart the case smile.gif

So you miss out on a fantastic array of games, just because you don't like exclusives? If sony or microsoft own their development studios don't they have a right to make games exclusive for their consoles?

Exclusives are what keep gaming allive as each new exclusive is designed to beat the exclusives of the competition raising the bar for graphics and game play. No exclusives means worse games. Notice how exclusives on the ps3 all score very highly where as multiplat games vary immensely.

What you are suggesting is effectively communism on consoles. And with communism comes low quality, sub par products (lack of competition and innovation) which were factors for the brake up of the soviet union.

Street Fighter IV...well that one was ok
RE5 was a good "we did it for the lulz" from Capcom
The newer Fire Emblems...such an insult to the FE on GBA (FEVII)
Final Fantasy...well that one has been going bad for a while
Warioland: Shake it is sooo short
Castlevania: the artstyle, lack of new content, ugh

etc
Many, A LOT are but not all.
But your way of giving them names is kinda how I say it in real life but most games get names not suited for OCN though biggrin.gif
