Can't save overclocking settings...!!! - Page 4

Damn it, i still cant overclock not even 10 Mhz. From what i believe the problem here is my ram...its some cheap kingston DDR2 @ 667 Mhz, so when i raise the FSB the clock of the DDR2 goes at 686 Mhz, also the Voltage Controls are all at Auto. Or maybe i need to manually feed them. Dont know...Any ideas?

you can drop the multiplier for the ram, drop it down to the next lowest level...which would take it down to the 533mhz strapping....it would decrease the ram MHz, but could potential allow you to have a increase OC...you could also bump up the voltages to the ram, without knowing the exact model to the kingston ram (unless you mention it in the OP), i can't say what safe voltages would be, as ddr2 varied from 1.8 to 2.3 (i believe), and some were prone to being damaged by even .1 increment in voltages.

i would go with the lower multiplier for the ram, vs trying to overclock/overvolt cheap ram....

find something like "fsb to north bridge strapping" and change it to say 266, 333, 400, it will change the available dram frequencies, auto gives them all to you.

I'm very glad that we got it flashed, but I'm with you in that it's very disappointing to see that it didn't make any difference.

So, I hate to say it, but I'm not sure what I'd do at this point. Except, I suppose I could claim that the specific Q8200 you have isn't overclockable at all. I mean after all, there's no guarantee that any CPU is overclockable - especially the Q8200, and especially on the P31 chipset. :/

Whoa. It'll make an enormous difference. Unfortunately, you'll still have the Q8200, but at least you will have a significantly better motherboard!!

nice, a ud3r will make all the world of difference might even get a nice 3.5 to 3.7 ghz OC out of the q8200 (i know i was able to get about 500 mhz on my fsb with my ud3p )

some of these 775 boards tho, absolutely crappy bios's, made OC'ing impossible

The EP45-UD3 series is about the best there is for overclocking when it comes to 775 boards.
