140mm Yate Loon

Okay I just replaced 3 of the 5 Cooler Master case fans in my 690 II Advanced with 3 140mm Yate Loons Medium speed (2 on the top and 1 in front with led which I successfully modded to work with the ON/OFF led switch on the panel) and all I have to say that the performance is better but I have increased noise by a decent margin compared to those other 3 140mm Cooler Master stock fans and I hooked them up power wise in the same fashion as before.

Is this normal as these are my first "Loonies" and in fact I'm awaiting the 120mm Medium speed LY's to replace the rear and back of the HD cage CM stock fans.

So again are Medium speed YL's fans normally "louder" than stock CM fans?

Thanks

I am going to now order a fan controller as I awaited hooking these up to see if I really needed it.

Petras, does it really make a difference?

Edit: I was almost going to purchase them from Crazy PC.

YL mediums are not terribly quiet. I think the lowspeed 140's are better for case work. So does my kid: I set up all my 140's, and she picked the YL D14SL-12 for the front of her case.

Yeah right now I'm running those three 140's at full speed as I needed a comparison to the 140mm Cooler Master fans which I also ran at full speed.
There's a definite very very noticeable noise increase for sure.

Fan controller here I come or go back to the Cooler Master stock fans - oh nooo.

Now where can you get even a decent fan controller for the cost of three Yate Loons? It's cheaper to just buy some D14SL-12's, or D14SL-124B's (those have blue LED's).

How you figure to be cheaper when I need 5 total fans? (3 140's and 2 120's)

Also it's only 1 140mm fan with the blue LED (the rest just black) I have now which I took time to mod (what a PITA b/c of the small area to work with) so I could turn the LED of that fan on/off using the already installed switch on the 690 II Advanced.

It's quite okay because I was ready to have to purchase a fan controller if these fans were too noisy, maybe I'm a bit disappointed that being I've heard more often than not that even the medium speed YL fans were pretty quiet even to the Cooler Master ones.
