In a high system, with cpu and gpu overclocked, the consumption of energy, at the maximum load, does not exceed 450-500 watt real....
Below, you can see the power consumption with a SLI of GTX 560 ti Asus and Palit Oc at 900 and 1000 mhz:http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=2006&pageID=10203
The system setup is:http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=2006&pageID=10198
In this case the psu is an Corsair AX750 with efficiency of the 90%!
Now, under stress (Metro 2033 full hd maximum details), the power consumption not exceed 535-542 watts, measured at the wall with a "Kill a watt
" tester, with gpu core at 1000 mhz!!
Removing the inefficiency (10%) of the psu the entire system consumes about 470-490 watts...
Here a review of a system based on Sandy Bridge 2500k oc at 4,7 Ghz, 2 x 4 Gb 1600 DDR3 Corsair, 2 x SLI EVGA GTX 560ti FTB overclocked at 900 mhz, Asus P8P67 Pro, etc etc with a PSU 650 watt XFX Core edition!!http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=29060
With this system:http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1104/pg4/asus-geforce-gtx-560-ti-directcu-ii-top-review-and-sli-performance-test-system-and-methodology.html
498 watt, measurement also at the wall....
A good 650 watt psu can easily support an 560 SLI overclocked!!!
Finally, the power consumption of a high system and SLI of GTX 580, is about 660 watt, measured always ath the wall:http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1957&pageID=9820
At maximum load, with gpu OC (asus tweak), the power consumption of entyre system is around 600 watt, removing the inefficiency of the psu...
