ABS PSUs any good?

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I've been toying around on Newegg, and I found this 1100w PSU. Can you guys tell me if it's any good for overclocking, and is it reliable? It seems really cheap for the 1100w...

First off, just so you know, ABS is owned by Newegg, just like Rosewill. That's not a bad thing, I'm just telling you
As for their PSUs, they did have some decent units a while back which were made by Enermax, and they were extremely attractive due to their being extremely cheap. The ABS SL series were rebadged Enermax Revolution85+ units sold at amazingly cheap prices. The Revolution85+ 1050W is still one of the best 1000W units I've ever seen, and it's sadly been replaced with an inferior 1020W unit. The ABS rebadge of that completely vanished after going on an astonishing ~$120 sale, I'm guessing Newegg was getting rid of the last of their stock.

However, the ABS Majesty and Dark Beret series aren't that great.
The one you're referring to was reviewed here: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/...supply_review/
For $200 if you need a 1000W, you can do a LOT better.

They vary.

That particular unit is actually a 900W, not an 1100W. It can do 1100W, but electrical performance and efficiency go to crap when you try it. The platform was obviously designed to go no higher than 850-900W.
