LG LED IPS Monitor

Thread Starter
Thought I'd stoke the kiln a little here and toss this at you guys / girls to see what you think! An LED IPS screen??? I'm reading on [H] (forgive me ) though it's unconfirmed that the LG might actually be better than a dell Ultrasharp?

Anyone care to offer a comparison between the Dell IPS offering and the LG IPS offering for us?

LG IPS236V vs is the Dell U2311H. Go.

hmm, this one and the Asus ML239H for about the same price. Can't wait for reviews on these so I can decide what the best bang for buck is.

This doesn't seem to be a very hot topic around here

In other news, I just picked up the LG IPS from Frys ... Came out to $290 after tax and all recycling fees which is a bit pricy compared to similar sized LED's but it's what I paid for a 24" just two years ago so getting a better quality display for the same price is worth it to me.

So far so good. The colors are super vivid with this LED IPS panel. I have to find the patience to set up my TN LCD next to it so I can compare. My brother even came in and said what did you do your monitor looks so much better! lolz.

Please let me know how much of a difference it is and any other thoughts you might have; you're right not many seem to be talking about it. I'm strongly debating b/t a 23" IPS and a 24" LED backlit TN panel.

It's nice to see a bit of competition in the lower size ranges in the IPS market. I've basically decided that, unless this monitor decides to crap out on me (would be terribly surprising since it's only ~1.5 years old), my next monitor will be something over 1080p, which narrows down my choices quite a bit. Now, for more competition in the 1440p/1600p market!

It's likely using WLED edge lit, with an eIPS (not to be confused with the old eIPS tech, this is the cheap IPS variant), so color gamut won't be the largest, however, it should still be better than any TN panel out there on that, and still retains IPS' signuature wide viewing angles

Yes, any "first impressions" you can share would be most appreciated.

I think quite a few potential buyers of monitors like these want to know just how aggressive the anti-glare is on it. (I've read owners of current generation of LG's IPS screens are described as anything from "just okay" all the way to "looks like an inch of vaseline smeared over it")

So, anything you can toss our way in this question would be great. Thanks!
