Is it worth setting this up as a 24/7 folding rig?

Hey guys, I don't have a ton of experience with folding (just started this week) but I would like to use some of the parts from my old rig and get it set up folding 24/7. I'd have to buy a new PSU and HDD, so before I do that, I want to make sure it will actually be worth it.

The CPU is an Athlon X2 6400 (I think? It's been a while), it's got a pair of Nvidia 8800GT cards, and I think 3GB of DDR2 1333 RAM.

I would probably keep everything at stock since I don't have anything but the stock cooling.

So yeah - worth it? Or would it just increase my electric bill (I don't make much money) and not get much work done.

Thanks guys.

Im folding 24/7 on a 900Mhz Celeron M with a half gig of DDR2.
That thing will be very productive.
Go for it.

Dont bother foldin on that CPU, use the 8800GT's however as thewy offer some graet PPD. Excuss the spellin mistakes. Kinda intoxicated

I think its worth it. The amd x2 should get about 2.5k ppd and the two 8800gt's would be good for 5k each. So 12k ppd total.

Uni-Core client plus the two GPU2 clients and you'll be set.
DO NOT run the SMP client.

Thank you for that info. I was thinking that might be the way to go.

Edit: Anyone happen to have a guess at what sort of PSU I'd need for that rig? I had a 650 watt Antec in there, which is now in my new rig. I'd like to spend as little money as possible, as I'm flat broke, so I don't want to buy anything that is overkill.

I think that would do the trick for several years to come.
Never ever cheap out on power supplies; especially ones under heavy usage.

Thanks, appreciate the help. Didn't want to buy more wattage than I needed.

When excess wattage from a P/S is a make or break situation, that is the definition of "really broke".
