I was actually planning on buying the same monitor. Would connecting speakers produce sound output? I was talking to a guy at a local pc shop and he said this monitor can only input sound but on the asus website it says one of the 3.5 mm jacks are for headphones. So, I'm assuming computer speakers would produce sound

If the Asus website says there is a 3.5mm output jack on the monitor then there is one. Why don't you connect the speakers directly to your computer, though? You'll get better sound quality and less noise.

I'm actually using it for an xbox too. The asus site says 3.5 mm headphone jack. It doesn't say output but I'm assuming it is. You think the quality is bad? I'm not an audiophile or anything

Ah, I see. Yes, a headphone jack is an output jack. You might get a bit more noise because you're running the audio through the monitor, but you should be fine.

that would work fine, but remember that you will not want the volume at 100% on your monitor. That might lead to clipping and distortion. If your speakers have their own volume knob, then keep the monitor volume at around 80% and adjust as necessary on your speakers.

Thanks for the info, the speakers I am going to use have an adjustment knob. I guess I'll just put the monitor volume down.

thanks. Yeah the reason is that the XBOX audio is at a really high volume compared to other devices, I have no idea why.
