Stalker CoP or ArmaII? - Page 2

Go for CoP if you're looking for Singleplayer. I'm playing through it a second time here. Though I will have to say SoC was much better overall. The mods can be pretty sweet with CoP as well.

ARMA 2 for sure. One of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had.

Stalker CoP ftw. I have all 3 titles and they are great games. There was a mod recently released by www.artistpavel.com called Complete Mod, which is totally awesome. He has made this mod for all 3 games and each one is a little different based on the game. It fixes some minor glitches and/or bugs, while adding in some subtle additions. They don't change the game per say, just adds a greater feel for the gameplay and your overall experience.
As for Arma II, I have that as well. I played some of the SP and for some reason just couldn't get into it. It didn't have the same feel as some other military FPS's I have played from CoD titles, to BFBC2, Operation Flashpoint, Frontlines, etc.. Didn't even try MP because of it. Been a while, maybe I'll look at it again.

But to be honest, both games are entirely different. IMO you can't truely compare the two because they are 90% different beasts. I like CoP because it is dark, open-ended and while there IS a story there, it doesn't try to force you to follow it. It has a ton of secondary missions and just wierd and wonderful places to explore on your own.

Thanks for your input guys. I went ahead and bought Stalker CoP. I've been reading about the mods as well and there are tons. Already I like the gameplay because it reminds me of Fallout3 w/an open environment and no restrictions to traveling. I'm using the Smrter and Atmosfear mod and the game is beautiful IMO. I don't know how the hell I didn't come across this game last year. +rep to all

Do you get any microstuttering on that game with your 5870s? I cant tell if my eyes are playing tricks or what. But its only on this game that I think i have microstutter with crossfire.

I'm still trying to figure out the best settings so I don't get the stutter. Sometimes I'll get 100+fps and sometimes it drops to 20ish. I noticed the vsync and force 60 refresh rate don't even work. It still jumps around with them enabled.

Cmon, open a pool.

Stalker has my vote all the way.

remember, stalker is a game, very atmospheric.

Arma is a simulator, not a game... Must be boring.. (never played it, but I own that operation dragon something)
I enjoy both respectively. Therefore If I was to suggest either of those I would be torn from suggesting or recommending each title. However remember that they are different Genre's. COP is an Alternative Universe First Person Shooter whereas Arma II is a Military Simulator with each having different goals and differences.

Arma 2 is different from Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. Totally different developers (BIS and Codemasters).

I would say get STALKER: CoP, because for me STALKER is more fun. But this is my personal opinion.

PS: If you want some kind of a military game with a bit of simulation to it, get Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

If you want sandbox and ridiculous flexibility go ARMAII: OA
Many people fail to realize you can do so much more than what's on the surface with that game.
Open the Editor and the hours will flyyyyyyyy by.......before you know it BF3 will be out.
