First of all, it's been quite a bit longer than two years since the release of Crysis 1 and the upcoming release of Crysis 2. And second of all, from everything we have seen so far, Crysis 2 does not even match the graphics of Crysis 1! And this whole idea of a DX11 patch that will significantly increase the quality of graphics is crazy. Yes, a patch might be released. But the difference will be MINIMAL at best. When a developer shows pre-release footage of a game, they ALWAYS make it look the very best it possibly can, better even than actual gameplay due to the use of cinematic sequences. The fact that all pre-release footage of Crysis 2 does not even look as good as Crysis 1 is a VERY bad sign. I will bet you $20 the graphics will never improve over what we have seen in the pre-release footage.
Furthermore, the DX11 patch is MOOT. Crysis 1 in DX9 on Very High STILL LOOKS BETTER than anything we have seen from Crysis 2 (the difference between DX9 and DX10 on Crysis 1 was virtually, if not totally, zero). Tech really hasn't advanced much since then.
I agree with you here. The difference between the GeForce 8/Radeon HD2000/3000 series and GeForce 500/Radeon HD6000 series is minimal at best.
