Among ALL PC gamers, 5.5% can run Dx11. Of those 5.5%, I'd imagine only about 2% REALLY care.

Thus you're overestimating the influence you carry.

I cant see DX11 making THAT much of a difference. Crysis 2 is a letdown in the graphics department, period.

Correct. Also consider, all pre-release footage of games will be set up to look its very best. Better even, than the actual game due to cinematic sequences rather than actual gameplay.

None of the videos of Crysis 2 look as good as Crysis 1. Very bad sign.

There wasn't a lot of DX10 cards in circulation when Crysis 1 was released. Many people didn't even upgrade to Vista. Many people said the same back then but all wanted to access the Very High settings that DX10 offered. They had to mod the files to unlock the very high settings on Windows XP. There are more people with Windows 7 now than Vista in the gaming community. Nvidia paying $2M to Crytek says a lot.

DX11 is important, not to you, but it is. If the tessellation features are significant, many people will want to access that setting too. Crysis moves a lot of video cards, and Nvidia is hoping that people will choose their card to play Crysis 2 maxed out.

I'm saving my breath for when the game is actually released but from what I've seen so far I'm not impressed. Cryteks main selling point and why they are known is due to their games having extremely high level of detail and graphics superiority. I just don't see that. Generally you would try to WOW the audience in advance with some really epic screen shots. That tree looks like something out of a 2001 game.

Your point in comparing the two is moot. Dx10 did almost nothing to improve Crysis and Vista was hated by most at that time.

No, it's not important to most game players. There's a vocal minority who like to whine and that's it. Until we see Unigine-Heaven type tessellation, it won't be important. And until we can run Unigine-Heaven quality backgrounds with 10-15 enemines at the same time off of one GPU, it's pointless to build a game for it. Crytek learned their lesson last time. You know what that lesson was? Making games that you can't max out for +2 yrs doesn't sell games NOW.

5.6% of gamers are Dx11. Face it, we're in the EXTREME minority, but most of us who CAN use Dx11 don't talk about it like it's some massive game changer. It's not.

Crytek didn't release these, these are taken from the leaked, unfinished game.
