goal is to reach 4.0 stable
so far i hit 3.8

Hi and thanks for anyone who helps ill be handing out +rep but i have been reading other peoples threads particularly the guys on the front page with the 1090 and 1100 so im downloading Hwmonitor and im using occt on a 6min stress test my i already have my cpu oc to 3.6 using the easy overclock feature on my mb.

Things to note
already oc to 3.6 10% oc
20% oc went bsod on easy oc settings.
from what i can tell my fsb is at 220 and my vcore seems to be at 1.38 ill be uploading pics so far this seems wrong because im only hitting 26c ss to be uploaded shortly(reason it only hit that high is because occt only tested 4 out of 6 cores)

Nice jet engine you got there hehe 168k rpm on fan smile.gif
Dont use the MB overclock feature for starters Id say. For it to be easy put the fsb back to 200, and raise the multiplier to what frequency you would like it at. Id say with 1,375 vcore you have atm, you can reach 3,8ghz or even 4ghz if the chip is nice.
If it doesnt POST then just reset Cmos settings and retry, by raising vcore up a notch (dont go over 1,5 for safety reasons, my 2 cents).

If you still want to raise FSB though you might want to lower your Ram frequency for it to be stable. Also raise your CPU-NB frequency to lets say 2,4 ghz for starters (I know that can run on stock voltage).

On my chip I can get 4ghz stable on 1,4 vcore, but I dont like the heat turning my comp room really hot with the window closed smile.gif.

For fast results if your OC is stable you can try using Intel Burn Test 15 runs at high settings, if you pass that Id say its pretty much stable.

P.S(Turn off any power saving features like AMD cool n quiet before you get your OC stable, you can turn it back on after, though afaik it wont work if the multi is higher than 18,5. at least on my system)

im gonna try that
(after test this bsod after starting p95 almost instantly, did boot though)

so i was able to boot at 4.0 20x 200fsb vcore at 1.425 but when i hit prime95 i bsod so im gonna try your suggestions(just noticed i had cool n quiet enabled)

sorry for my nooby questions but what does it mean to post and im booting per your suggestions with vcore at 1.375(cnc disabled and turbo core)

bsod when i loaded windows with those setting maybe i have a crap chip frown.gif im gonna try
1.4v with 3.39 and see how that fairs.

(am i wrong in my assumption that i need to supply more vcore as i raise my multiplier?)

gahhhh bsod on this test too! during p95 test probably 20 seconds in

i need some lessons in terminology what do you mean when you say POST im assuming you mean boot to windows. i dunno what you mean by cmos

gonna try same settings as before but with 3.8 instead of 3.9

I have an ASRock mobo and a Phenom II X4 970. I hit 4.2 GHz at 1.5 vcore but I wasn't comfortable with the temps.

Either way I got there by starting high with the vcore (1.5volts) and setting the cpu frequency multiplier to 4.2 GHz and lowered the the vcore until it was unstable.

Just my method of madness, probably not the best but I start high with the vcore and work my way down.

Also, in the ASRock boards in order to change the CPU multiplier you have to change the setting from "auto" to "manual".

Oh, and don't forget to turn off "Cool n Quiet"

ty ill def start upping it i dont think i want to go higher than 1.45 seems a happy medium currently testing p95 at 3.8 with vcore at 1.4

Are you using anything to benchmark your tests?

EDIT: Those temps look decent, I'd be hesitant to increase the vcore anymore (you don't want to go into the 60's)
