Build me a gaming computer for Sub $700 - Page 2

go to microcenter and buy your processor for sure and the rest from newegg. If you go with that 460 768mb, build around that with a cpu from microcenter you should be ok on budget. Get cheap Gskill ram, etc.

For 1000$ you can get a very slick build. Check this one for example:
I5 2500k (Microcenter) 179.99$
Asus P8P67 (Microcenter) 159.99$ (I chose this one because it's a much safer choice than the Biostar one that the others linked before since the Biostar has absolutely NO mosfet cooling...Also, considering you ever want to play with your processor (OC), this on won't explode! )
MSI 6970 (newegg) 319.99$ (Awesome video card!)
2x F3 500gb (raid0) (newegg) 49.99$ea (Will perform really well in raid0)
Antec TP-650 (newegg) (Cheap and reliable!)
Thermaltake V3 (newegg) 44.99$ w/ code EMCKGJC28 (Nice cheap case)
Lite-On DVD Burner (newegg) 17.99$
Gskill ripjaws 2x2GB 1600 8-8-8-24 (newegg) 54.99$ (Great choice! Very good ram, CL8)

For a total of 1002$ Shipping and tax included (+ local pickup for mobo and cpu)

Good luck
-polm

BTW, did ya need a monitor and win7?

Hopefully this works, I'm too lazy to type it all out but for $754.97 this is what I came up with, not a full gaming rig, but in your budget and room for upgrades later on.

Can $1000 build a decent PC from MicroCenter?
at first u told u have $700 so I suggested u gtx460 for the gpu & biostar tp67b+,
but now since its $1000 I recommend u getting
hd6950 2gb for the gpu,
asus p8p67 pro for the mobo

I am a bit out of practice, but with no copy of windows (and a stock CPU heatsink) you can get a 580 and 2500k in your system for around $1010 after MIR.

I assume you can just bring your old DVD drive to this too, if not add one for around $7.

The memory is ok, the PSU should be capable, motheboard is fine, CPU is excellent. Also 580 is hands down the best single card.
