120mm Fans for Silver Arrow...Any Objections???

I'm picking up a Silver Arrow today and I need to buy some reliable 120mm fans for it. I'm thinking about a couple of Scythe S-Flex Gs or PWM SlipStreams . I will not be able to use the TY-140s because of a clearance issue (door panel door will not close). Would you consider these fans as good choices?

Never mind (not like I was getting help anyway )...I change my mind about buying the SA. Picked-up a couple of 38MM Delta fans for my Aegir

I would go with the CM's I have. 70cfm, 2.93mm h20 static pressure. They do a good job of keeping the temps nice and low =) And 19dBa !

Thanks but not good enough for me. I was trying to find something equal to or better than my (2) Xigmatek DK PWM fans (89CFM @ 4.1mmh2O static pressure @ 30dBa; the noise is tolerable ). That's why I had decided to buy a pair of Delta fans since I have a fan controller.

Yup, that 19dba is at a low RPM, it's basically fact nowadays that CM has lied about their dba numbers for some of their fans. Not even a TY-140 which is very quiet can do 19dba at max 73CFM/1300RPM, though possible to be in the mid to low 20's in dba.

My question to the op is how would the TY-140's cause a clearance issue to the door? Or maybe you mean to say the heatsink itself would do it. The heatpipes would get in the way more than the fans even if you mounted the fans really high up and turned them sideways to obstruct more space. Well it doesn't matter now since you got Delta fans for your Aegir.

Since you have the Silver Arrow, you can probably help me out with this question. Does the stock fans sit higher than the 8mm heatpipe? From looking at pictures of this heatsink, it looks that way and if that's the case, that's the reason why the door panel will not close. I'm hoping you will tell me that this is not the case cuz I would really like to buy the SA

No, with clearance to my GSkill ripjaws ram the TY-140's still won't surpass the top of the heatpipes.

I mean does googling a picture sound so hard? Shows here that the fans are well below the top of the heatpipes.

Thanks and NO , Googling is very hard when I do not have my coffee in the morning ...All the images I have seen were from site reviews so I did not think about Googling images to see other pictures...besides verifying is not a bad thing, that's why I had asked since you have one This is the best angle shot I have seen to answer my concern
