[ZDNet] BUSTED! AT&T begins crackdown on iPhone jailbreakers using MyWi tethering

BUSTED!

Bottom line is that users who have enabled tethering on their iPhone sing any feature other than the Personal Hotspot feature are breaking AT&T’s terms of service, and now that AT&T has a plan, it’s trawling for users who are already using the service but not paying for it.

But how are they spotting MyWi users? Three possibilities:

* Network saturation
* User agent IDs
* Excessive data usage

I can't help but think of those bank commercials. And for me to actually subject someone to a commercial or use it as a good point... it is definitely a good commercial.

Here, have this toy. Now, don't go playing with it!

God I can't wait til my contract is up with these people. Moving back to tmobile. AT&T is the strictest of the giant cell providers here in the US. Bandwidth caps, high prices, bad customer service, spotty coverage...

BLEH!

What ever... I'm entitled to my 5GB's.
I'll use it however the hell I want to.

This is a joke, right?
I mean, I don't have an iPhone, I'm not an AT&T customer and I'm not even an american, but this seems really ridiculous.

No message yet, and since what they're sending out are just warnings, I'm gonna keep tethering.

I refuse to pay ATT an extra $30 $45?! a month to properly use my Unlimited plan [which in itself is $30 a month] and a feature my phone has.

Catch me if you can, this cat and mouse game is far from over. Intelliborn will just update MyWi with a patch and we'll be set once more.

Plus, this seems to be an issue with 4.3 only... so 4.2.1 for life then

edit: it's $45 a month now? Oh ATT go [redacted] yourself. Self redaction ftw.
