Games could also be played from a Hard Drive. I think if it was really easy to hack the PS3 it would have been done a long time ago.

Back in the days when games ran off cartridges like the Genesis/Nes/Snes there were game copiers that copied the games to Floppy Disks lol

I have a friend of mine's ps3, and he has an original fat ps3, his blu-ray player died several months back and he can no longer play games any more. The only reason why I'd want to jailbreak a ps3 is to play games off of the hard drive, specially in his case where it's out of warranty and replacing the blu-ray drive is sort of out of the question.

It really didn't though. There was just no need to hack the PS3 when it had the OtherOS option. Once they removed it, it only took about 3 months, about as long as it took on the 360.

Having another OS does not mean you can pirate games. The main reason consoles get hacked/jailbroken/modified is to pirate games. Sure some will say. No really, it's just to play legally available homebrew

Your kidding yourself thinking that if Sony had kept OtherOS nobody would have hacked it. It was inevitable but accelerated by removal of that feature.

That's just the local ip your router gives you, not your full IP which is much longer and is handled by your ISP.

And playing games off an HDD is a big deal. Blu-Ray read speeds are soooo slow, a Blu-Ray movie on PS3 has load times. Games are a nightmare.

And potentially more fps.
