Deus Ex: Human Revolution gameplay

Thread Starter

Here is new footage showing off multiple approaches to playing the game. You can be stealthy or go in guns blazing. It is far from linear, offering various pathways into any given situation. The orange glow does not look as bad as I previously thought, but it might get boring halfway through the game. Hopefully there is more variety to the environments. Apparently the game starts off fairly linear as a tutorial to get you into the mood, then develops into more of an open environment. But no it is not 'open world' as depicted in games like GTA or Just Cause. I think the correct term here is 'sandbox', giving you an extensive freedom to play the game in whatever manner you like instead of following a predetermined path.

For those of you that are unaware the game will be released on 23rd August(US) and 26th August(Europe). It is single player only but boasts a campaign of 25 hours which does not include all of the side missions would extend the game even further.

Fans of the original and newcomers alike will enjoy this. Move over Fallout we have a new contender. Post a comment and get the discussion rolling.

Edit: Here is fresh Deus Ex footage. Hopefully this will restore more faith in the game.

Seriously, they are playing it on a console

Good thing I am watching it on the lowest res right now, maybe I won't notice.

Thats all you care about now is it.....

ANYWAY it looks fun, though needs more innovation. Most of what I have seen we are familiar with in other Deus Ex games.

And not to be a jerk, but the video says it is played on a PC, but it is on a PS3. That is "weird".

Like I said looks fun though.....

Don't see why they would just use a controller then. I guess this way they figure the average PC user is smart enough to read whereas the console user sees the buttons on the screen and assumes it will run that good on the console and goes out and buys it.

There was actually a case where they had done this. It was with tiger woods pga tour (1 million, don't remember number) where they showed commercials of the game on the xbox 360 but they had Tiger Woods playing it on the wii.

Naturally people assumed the game would look that good and have the functionality of the wii.

I hope the PC graphics are a little better if this is actually being played on a console. The video resolution is not that high either so it might look better in HD.

A few people complained about the 'boring' level design. This looks like the very first mission and is designed as a tutorial to show you different styles of play. Of course everything is simple. We will have to wait for more footage to see how they develop more complex levels.

Hopefully in the next video they show more of the social aspects e.g. how the conversation system works, walking into a bar, how you spend your experience points etc.

Come on people where's the enthusiasm? I guess they did not market the game properly after all.

Game isn't out until August, why get hyped up about it. Already got BF3 to be hyped up enough about.

Just don't know how good this game will be frankly.

Adam Jensen doesn't sound at ALL..like JC Denton

Concept looks good, I dont like the hud thing that glows all the objects you can use. Tbh, looks like a reskinned Deus Ex 1. Naturally I hope the graphics look better for PC, really bland for console.
