Can't boot but PC is on. Help?

Thread Starter
Yesterday I had trouble getting anything to turn on and it turned out to be simply the Front Panel wires. They were a bit messed up.

Now it powers on, all my fans spin, GPU spins, heatsink fans spin, random L.E.D.'s are on BUT I can't see anything on my TV. I'm using an HDMi cable and an 18" Sanyo (Walmart) as of right now. It doesn't say "no signal" or anything, it's just black. I'm using the TV right now as a second monitor through my DV7 laptop and Catalyst.

Also, the light on my CD drive doesn't turn on. Nor does the red under my mouse or lights on my keyboard. I attempted using both the front panel's USB ports and the motherboards'-- same thing. Is it possible that these lights only turn on after booting?

It's driving me nuts. Help is much appreciated.

I don't have it hooked up to audio, should it beep anyways? I'll check now...just a bunch of whirring. No particularly audible beep.

Do you have a computer screen to set-up with first? Try hooking it up with a DVI cable to an LCD, there may be an issue with resolutions etc. with the TV.
Is this a new setup? Like has it worked before or is this all fresh out of the box? If its a new setup, then you should check all the wires, especially the cpu power wire, the one thats right next to the cpu socket. Usually, when everything seems to work (fans spinning and all that) it means your cpu isn't powered up...Check to see...
Good luck!

Nononono, you should still be able to bring something up by booting into safe mode...

If that's successful, just adjust the resolution there.

Also, try to pick a POST speaker to hear some beeps, that can tell you alot...

also, also, you mentionned you re-arranged your pin connectors, make sure you did that right and didn't short out your board, especially if you mucked with the USB pins

Are the LEDs you mentioned on the board part of a POST code built into the board? If so, that may give you an idea of what it is hanging on

Before you purchase a monitor, I am willing to bet it is one of three things:

1.) Your RAM is bad

2.) Your motherboard is fried.

3.) Both of the above.

The reason I say this is the EXACT same thing happened to me a month ago, it ended up being that 3 out of 4 sticks of OCZ 4GB RAM were bad and somehow caused the mobo to short. Either way I would start with the RAM and then go to the mobo.

Hope that helps.

If I could SEE what I was doing I would boot in safe mode. Hooking up speakers now and no, the USB pins sat there the entire time, haven't moved them at all.

EDIT:
Hooked up headphones, figured it'd be the same as speakers. No beep.
