These drives go regularly on sale at places like newegg for $69.99. This usually happens at least once or twice every two months for a few days.

For those of you saying that this drive sucks because it's 5400RPM you need to do more research. This drive has been shown in benchmarks to be faster than the 1TB F3 HD103SJ which is 7200RPM because of it's larger platter size. Some people will say that benchmarks don't matter but the bottom line is these drives are not slow.

Samsung's reliability can be debated for years and there still wouldn't be a conclusion. These are great drives at good prices.

I've been following hardware prices for a few years now. To find out the best prices I got the RSS feeds from the top deal sites and put them in google reader (I also follow these forums and other hardware enthusiast forum deal sections). After awhile you accumulate quite the collection of past deals. At this point you can just type in the product your looking to purchase and see what the lowest price it went for on sale was. You can also see if there is a pattern of when the item goes on sale.
Most don't have that much patience, I should probably do that myself.

I own this drive and it's not slow in any stretch of the word. There was a noticeable speed improvement over my 1TB F3 unit.

Fantastic deal here guys.

I stopped by MC on the way home tonight from work to pick up these up for my server build. Great drives, nice price. And the nice thing is they don't need the firmware update because all the ones I saw were recently made (Jan 2011).

Nice!

I'd get a sammy or WD. They're the only drives I've had that don't fail. I have some old WD IDEs running on a few machines. Some are 7GBs... They don't fail on me. But I do have newer SATA sea gates and others that bombed out pretty quick.
