Please check my setup for errors

Hey gang, I've been lurking for a couple of days but now need some fine tuned advice. I'm looking to upgrade my audio system in my computer dungeon. At the moment I am looking at purchasing:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._6_G2_68W.html

The reason I'm going with the Mackie is that I want an external control volume knob thingie next to me. I'm nerdy like that. My question is will I need an amp or anything? I may be wrong in assuming I can go from mini to rca into the mackie from the computer and then use the main outs to the speakers...

I used to do audio with my father years ago and I have a basic knowledge but I'm not very technical at all with pro audio like this.

Any advice or criticism will be greatly appreciated.

An amp probably won't be necessary since these monitors have built-in power (68W of it).

Unfortunately, Mackie mixers are overpriced - especially for this application. Plus, mixers like these are for musicians who want to do some home recording or for musicians who want to have control over their own mix on stage.

However, I can still recommend something like one of these:

Nady MM-141 4-Channel Mini Mixer for $24.99 shipped

Behringer MICROMIX MX400 4-Channel Line Mixer for $33.99 shipped

Or even a Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer for $43.99 shipped

Although, I think that a mixer like the Xenyx 502 (or the Mackie) would be a waste of money in this situation since you'd only take advantage of like half of it.
