EK VGA Block on TilaTech?

Thread Starter
I've been pondering my first custom Loop for awhile, and had been considering putting my 5850 on it, I'm not going to be replacing it for quite a while and its reference Fan is starting to make noise like it either needs a good squirt of WD-40, or its about to die..

Figure, if I going to go with a full custom loop on my CPU then throw a block onto my 5850; and take out even more fan noise from the system!

Problem was, most of the VGA blocks out there would have added close to 100 - 115 to the cost of the project which would have put it above my budget plans for the project... That is until I remembered a thread floating around a couple weeks ago about some sale at on EK products at a place called TilaTech.

I dug up the Thread, and I found the following still listed as available!

EK FC5850 - Acetal+Nickel Full Cover GPU Water Block - $60.00

Well, I'm about ready to jump on it... but now hesitant, and figured I would come here and ask if anyone knows whether that Block would actually be worth it? I know, EK blocks are typically worth it, but what I don't know is whether this is some sort of low end model, or if its a higher end model, on their product line.

Lastly, any of you guys had any experience order parts from TilaTech? I generally don't trust a company who does not list their Address or Phone number on their own website...

That is about the only EK item in stock on that site.

It appears Mr. Arpad is just marking down items he isn't stocking, just to draw attention to his shop.

Yea I know that block is about the only EK block left on his site...

I'm just wondering whether its actually a decent block or not for the price, or would I do better with investing $100 into a different 5850 block?

There isn't really high end or low end models for the blocks with EK, there are different metals used, but never a huge difference. 60 for that block is most definitely a good deal, I spent 110 on each of my block for my 5870

Thanks guys, for the feedback on it!

I went and grabbed one, which doing so has pretty much made up my mind on pulling out my H50 and replacing it with a full custom Loop! Been debating about doing one for a couple weeks now...

You won't be disappointed. I've got an EK 5870 block & the performance is phenomenal. The 5850 block performance can't be much different.

Since TilaTech had my block listed at half what I paid for it, I grabbed another one - lol - one more reason to crossfire my rig someday soon
