I understand completely, but I'd like to reemphasize how great of a product the dm1z is. I wish it would've been okay right from the start, but if a one-time RMA is all I need to make this purchase worth it, I'd still be a satisfied customer.

That's true. Ive never had to RMA anything but it's probably luck. What is your opinion on the laptops durability? I vowed to never buy another HP after my brothers dv6600(?) died in less than 2 years.

Do you know how the ASUS 12xx netbooks compare to the dm1z/x120e in terms of performance?

I'd say that the durability is very much above average. I've never owned a Lenovo, so I can't compare the dm1z to the x120e, but I would still recommend the dm1z for quality alone. I believe the ASUS 12xx's use Intel Atoms or Atom dual cores don't they? From review I've seen the dm1z and x120 are much better, if not moderately better.

Reviews I've read:

I can't believe this has already been on sale for $400 in the US and we Canadians still can't get it any cheaper then around $574 (US) + tax

I don't want to suck it up and waste money on an atom...

look forward to the rest of your testing onoz when you get yours back!

Seriously, these E-350 machines are exactly what I've been wanting from the netbook world. Some light gaming machines with dual core cpu's and a battery life to boot.

Yeah they're pretty good for what they do, but I wouldn't really consider them for gaming, Especially since they're going into the laptops with 11.6" monitors. Would you really want to play with a monitor that small?

Is there anywhere that I could buy it for $400 shipped? My budget is REALLY tight at the moment and the money from selling my netbook doesn't cover the cost of one of these =\\

Some people don't mind, and quite a few hook up to external monitors. Granted you're going to be hurting at resolutions higher than the original monitor, but you get what you pay for.
