128gb or 64gb + 1tb hd? - Page 2

I did the 64Gb C300 and the 1TB Black Caviar Western Digital. The C300 was a tad pricey but being SATA3 I do not regret it and the 1TB was only 80 dollars and SATA3 as well, so it was completely worth it.

If you are new to SSD's (I appologize if you are not ) I would highly suggest fully reading these two threads and doing these guides, they helped me out sooo much.

I currently use a 64gb SSD as a boot drive (Crucial RealSSD <3) and one 1TB Western Digital Green and one 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 drives for storage.

It's worked wonders for me so far ^^

I would do the one about the secondary drive first, as the less that gets installed the fewer registry entries you have to change. Also, there's a possibility you'll screw something up the first time, after which you may have to secure erase and reformat before trying again. You don't want to make a bunch of other tweaks and end up doing them again.

The other guide is more about reducing writes to the drive over time (although so is the first one, in part), and any extra writes during the hour or so you spend with the first guide are insignificant.
