For me AMD Phenom II X4 this means it is quad core...
It wasn't Some people must have thought he was on about the Intel 970.

Lol screw the 965 and 970 and honestly get the 955. honestly there really isnt a big difference from any of these chips, they all come from the same batch just a little better quality. its all the luck of the draw if u get a real good 955 it will oc better than a 970 and visa versa plus u save money on the 955 for basically the same performance. Plus if the only thing ur going to do is game get the 9 series and dont waste ur money on the 6 cores

Get the 955BE C3. It's the same exact chip as the 965 and the 970, just a different stock multiplier.

And I sure hope you have plans for a better board along with it.

thanks guys for the reply/s, my mobo i think is a great one, and i dont have money to spend on computer stuff really, ive dumped all my money into my snowmobile, so im thinking the 955 or 965 or 970, dont matter to me, just figured 970 is a higher grade of the cpu waffer, though i think pple have had great luck oc'ing that 955, i dont want hexa core because i need new mobo and ram, i have awsome sauce ddr2 ram, just this 9950 i havent been able to use the stuff 800 mhz, when there stock supposed to be like 1400 mhz not overclocked,

so thats why i am thinking the 4 core cpu is just because of the ddr2 situation,

so i guess guys are saying the 955 because its cheaper, and will do just as good of a job??

You're going to be sadly mistaken. Your board is a really old 750a chipset. It will get you around 3.6-3.8GHz at MOST out of any of those chips. So yeah, just save the money and get the 955BE. It's your board that's going to hold you back either way.

In order to get the most out of such a high end AMD quad (or x6) you need a better board.

sorry about that, its just that I am far more familiar with Intel than with AMD, andbecause the OP or you didn't say anything about AMD
