I've done a good deal of searching, but I can't find anything definitive on the matter.....

Is there any block out there that is known to work with the Asus GTX 470 Fermi?

link to said product please

all of asus's 470's are reference models unless your refering to their V2 version of the 470
which isn't a ref PCB but has all the same mounting holes and cooler and stuff

If the cooler looks like:

It's a reference card, and any reference block should work.

(Make sure to ignore your sticker, it doesn't matter.)

Yeah looks identical To the Asus.

Well that seemed much less painless then I was bracing for.

any suggestions to which block to go with? or does it really boil down to how much i want to spend....

all ref blocks are 100 or close to that number
depends on what brand you prefer and its aesthetics

I recommend either EK or Koolance or Heatkiller
they all perform well within 1-4*C~ of each other

Easy way to check would be to take a quick gander at the part that goes into the PCI-E slot.

If it says Nvidia it SHOULD be reference.

If you take a look at some non-reference cards such as the MSI 580 Lightning you'll notice it says "MSI" right above the connector.
