Most the people in this thread act like Crytek owes them something.

They don't owe you an editor, they don't owe you DX11, and you don't owe them your money if you don't like their game. It's really that simple.

As for avoiding threads where people are whining, that would be most of the news threads on OCN. People whining about ATi drivers, Nvidia's cards that can fry an egg, Apple's expensive products that can't run flash, PC games that are console ports, etc.

Key word here is "modding". With DX10, Very High settings were enabled by default. People from that point started to upgrade their PCs. DX10 has much better lighting, shadows and textures, there wouldn't have been a very high setting with out it. The code was in the DX9 build of course but the main reason why people modded the files because they didn't want to upgrade to Vista, but they still owned a DX10 card. The 8800GTX is a DX10 card and it been out since Crysis 1, haven't seen many people with anything less. You even own a DX11 card, I'm surprised you don't a 7800GT or something. I connected my laptop to Steam and they took a hardware survey of it, clearly a DX9 laptop but it's counts all the same, there are millions of laptops connected to Steam, so don't look too deep into the numbers.

Crysis 2 will have DX10 at launch so we can stop having these ridiculous DX9 discussions. DX11 will be a patch and it could be day one. At the end of the day, we will get every DX setting, 9, 10, and 11. Everyone should be happy, even the DX9 users because it will run great, while the high end users can push their PCs to the max.

not to mention dx10 adds Volumetric water, which is a really cool effect.

This type of comment should be probation-causing. Worse than useless.

OT: This was easily foreseen. Those of us with even a shred of skepticism noted their focus on the console experience before the demo, and confirmed it with the demo. The brutal truth is: when your demo's first screen says, "Press start to begin," nothing about that game will be tailored for PC.

Yep, someone else posted this in the other Crysis thread:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6182140/index.html

Look at the water the four slides down from the top, the scar overlooking the water. The XP high setting water looks very similar to the Crysis 2 water. Click on the very high setting i.e. DX10, modded for XP and standard for Vista, the water looks a lot more realistic, more waves etc. and the sun lighting has improved and is more natural. The other slides show better shadows, sun lighting and shaper textures. If Crysis is indeed in DX10, we should see the same "very high" quality of the first and more. DX10 does make a difference. Those DX9 slides remind me so much of Crysis 2 in it's current state.

DX10 made Crysis what it is today. The beast of PC games. I just need more confirmation of DX10 and I'm buying.

I had a feeling last year when the CEO and that writer dude starter hyping up Crysis 2 that this game was going to fall flat on it's face. I don't really know why I had that feeling, just did.

Looks like I might be right.

Good, Very Good, Extreme. Good starting at top. More comparisons coming, unclear yet if this is DX9 or 10.

Very minimal, but it's all DX9. All the textures are the same in each photo.
